Exciting opportunity: A Corra Sound 'Call for Scores'

As part of our quest to shine a light on new talent and to enable musicians to flourish, we are launching our first ‘Call for Scores’, encouraging composers to submit new works for performance by Corra Sound and directed by Dr Amy Bebbington in 2024.

While we tend to champion choral works written by and for women, this call is open to composers of any age, gender or background.

The winning submissions will be included in a unique performance celebrating female power, strength, flowing energy, survival and/or parental advocacy, so we ask for compositions to be based on these themes.

Corra Sound is a unique vocal ensemble - most are parents of neuro-divergent children – and that brings power, strength, vulnerability and honesty to our performances. These are the traits that we will be looking for in works for our 2024 programme.

To give you an idea of the style of narrative that moves us, we love Christina Rossetti poems and have shared some other inspirational texts in the download below.

The deadline for submissions is 30th September 2023 and successful entrants will be announced at the end of the year.

There is no fee for entry and we aim to be able to pay a nominal performance fee to composers whose works are selected. See our poster for more details below.
