Who knew that when we last performed a full set for you all – an amazing collaboration with the RPCO and Harlequin Chamber Choir in March 2020 - we would shortly be going into a national lockdown and that restrictions on singing together would last for so many months?
After such a long wait, we are back in the rehearsal room and ready to resume our place on the concert platform once more. And what a joy it has been to sing together once again!
Over the past few weeks, we have been working towards a new programme of enthralling and dynamic repertoire: from the creative genius of Ethel Smyth and Ruth Gipps to the undeniably beautiful melodies of Sarah Quartel and Eleanor Daley, and the joyous humour of Joanna Forbes L’Estrange. It has been a great pleasure to explore these remarkable works and we are looking forward to celebrating them with you.
That’s why we’re absolutely delighted to announce our next performance date.
On Saturday 30th October, we will make our Elgar Festival debut in Worcester, the composer’s birthplace. Alongside the likes of the English Symphony Orchestra, the virtuosic talent of cellist Raphael Wallfisch, and award-winning double-bassist Misha Mullov-Abbado with his Club Elgar set, we are delighted to have been offered the opportunity to perform as part of the festival.
We’ll be performing a set that complements some of Elgar’s choral and solo output with repertoire from key male and female composers writing at that time, alongside more contemporary works. We very much hope you can join us up in Worcester for what promises to be a whirlwind tour of vocal delight and intrigue.
And if Worcester is a little too far afield for our local friends, please keep an eye out for more news from us. We’ll be releasing the details of our Christmas concert shortly and we would love to see you there!
